Tongariro National Park- New Zealand

Hiking the Tongariro crossing was my favorite part of our north island adventure. It was a six hour round trip hike and it was pretty difficult (for someone who’s never hiked anyways). Toward the top you’re met with what’s called the Devil’s Staircase and it’s a bit intimidating. Tons of little steep sets of staircases. After that was a long hike across snow and ice. It was my first mountain hike and while I don’t think I’m going to turn into a mountain climber I actually really did enjoy it. I feel really proud of myself for accomplishing something I never would have done under normal circumstances. This trip is all about self discovery, going into the unknown, and taking risks.  🙂
